about the artist

Danielle Onesto is an artist working with colored pencil and watercolor to depict plants and organisms woven together in a complex dance.

Born and raised on Long Island, New York, Danielle graduated from Pratt Institute with a Masters in Art and Design Education along with a fine arts concentration in drawing.

Danielle spent years as a freelance designer and artist teacher before eventually leaving New York and following an intuitive pull to be closer to nature to spend more time outdoors.

She now lives and works in California where she gathers inspiration for her work by wandering the wild coastal bluffs and redwood forests of Sonoma and Mendocino counties.

Her work explores the restorative effects of living a life close to nature and seeks to understand the body’s memory of being a part of an integrated ecosystem.

I acknowledge the Miwok and Pomo peoples as the traditional caretakers of the land on which I live and work.

COLLABORATIONS

PangeaseeD

I was selected as a Top 3 artist for PangeaSeed’s Sea Wonder: Share Wonder campaign.

PangeaSeed is a global nonprofit organization that bridges art and science to advance ocean conservation in different communities.

In alignment with the 2025 UN World Oceans Day theme of “Wonder”, they invited artists worldwide to explore and express the emotional and scientific beauty of the ocean, through art.

This campaign highlights the ocean’s ability to ignite curiosity, connection, and care. It culminated at the UN Ocean Conference, held in Nice, France.

The top 10 selected artworks were featured in a digital gallery, where they were made available as free downloadable resources for educators, advocates, and community members to use in ocean conservation outreach around the world.

POPPY BOTANICALS

I'm honored to have collaborated with Poppy Botanicals, a beloved local handmade herbal skincare line.

As a botanical artist, I've had the privilege of crafting intricate drawings that grace their product labels.

These illustrations capture the beauty and essence of the natural ingredients that go into each of Poppy Botanicals' handmade products.

It's been a true pleasure to combine my passion for art with their dedication to creating high-quality herbal goods.

EVGENIA LINGERIE

It was so fun and different working alongside Evgenia Lingerie for their enchanting Floralia collection.

Using pen and ink with watercolor to depict bundles of delicate poppy flowers, these drawings were then expertly arranged into a pattern by Stephanie Bodnar, Evgenia’s founder and designer.

This design captures the timeless elegance and natural beauty that inspires this exquisite lingerie line.

It's been a harmonious blend of art and fashion, resulting in pieces that celebrate both femininity and botanical artistry.
